About a week into the pandemic, I ordered a bunch of instant film. Stepping out onto the balcony in DC each day to make at least one image of the sky became a ritual and a way to mark time. At the same time, holding actual images in my hand was a highlight of the day. I continued photographing from the balcony for 3 months until I relocated to New Hampshire for the summer. I wouldn't return to my apartment for over a year.
